FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
We strive to offer you the best treatment possible using the latest technology available in South Africa.

Going for a new treatment procedure can be daunting if you don’t know what to expect. Here we have attempted to alleviate any concerns you may have before your first treatment. However, if there is anything else you would like to know, feel free to call us, or book a no-obligation consultation with one of our professional therapists, who will be able to answer your questions.
We use state-of-the-art laser equipment to remove unwanted hair faster, more comfortably, and with fewer visits than ever before. Thanks to the patented IN-Motion technology which uses a sweeping, paintbrush technique, the procedure is shorter and far more comfortable than traditional laser hair removal treatments and delivers great results.
How does it work?

Gentle pulses of laser energy gradually heat hair follicles under the skin until they can no longer produce new hair. Since the laser is in constant motion, your treatment area can be wider, and sessions are quicker as a result. The treatment is comfortable and does not generally have side effects, and will leave you with much smoother, cleaner skin. The treatment is virtually pain-free, with patient feedback describing it as feeling “similar to a hot stone massage’. In addition, a patented DualChill mechanism ensures the surface of your skin stays cool and comfortable throughout your treatment.
Each treatment significantly and permanently reduces the number of hairs that can regrow, and it works on virtually any part of the body.
Is it safe?

The Soprano XL Diode Laser System has been cleared by the FDA for permanent hair reduction on any skin type, including tanned skin. It has been successfully used to treat hundreds of thousands of patients worldwide.
How does it compare to other hair removal systems?

Compared to waxing, hair reduction is permanent, less painful, and nearly as fast. Hair is also not required to grow out before treatment. Compared to electrolysis, it is significantly less painful, significantly faster, not technique-dependent, and far more cost-effective. Compared to other Laser hair removal systems, it is much less painful, is safe for any skin type, and provides similar or better effectiveness.
How long does it take to get results?

After each treatment, you’ll see a noticeable, permanent reduction in the number of hairs that re-grow in the treated area. Typically, it will require 8-12 treatments to permanently reduce the number of hairs that re-grow by 80%, six months after the last treatment. Factors that may affect the success of your individual treatment include skin, hair colour, and hormonal effects or imbalances (hirsuitism, puberty, menopause, etc).
Does it work on all hair colours?

It is the pigment in the hairs that convert the laser energy into the heat necessary for permanent hair reduction. So it follows that the less pigment there is, the less effective the procedure will be. New technology is showing good results on lighter and blonde hair.
Does it work on all skin types?

Yes, it does – including tanned, Indian, and black skins. To ensure the safety of darker-skinned patients, laser energy may be reduced. While this is unlikely to change your results, it may require additional treatments to achieve results. Tanned skin needs to be out of the sun for at least 2 weeks to avoid any adverse reactions.
Will it hurt?

The most remarkable difference between our treatment procedure and any other (including other laser procedures) is the absence of pain. Soprano XL’s IN-Motion technology, along with the patented DualChill mechanism, ensures your comfort during the treatment.
In general, it has been likened to a hot stone massage.
How long will it take?

Each area takes just a few minutes to treat, and any area can be treated in one short session. Logically, the length of the treatment is proportional to the size of the area, with a man’s back taking longer than an upper lip for example.
Depending on the area being treated, you will return after 4 weeks initially for your next treatment. Once you have treated each area between 6-8 times, you can extend that to 6-8 weeks, depending on your skin and hair type.
Why does it take several treatments?

Scattering of the light in the skin, combined with variations in pigment levels, results in variations in the ability of the laser to create the thermal injury necessary to permanently disable an individual follicle. In most cases, successive treatments will eventually treat every follicle effectively, as long as there is pigment in the hair and no other identifiable factors that could affect treatment efficacy.
The time between treatments is needed to refill the follicles that are not completely damaged, so they can have pigmented hair available for the next treatment.
Which areas of the body can be treated?

Almost any area of the body that presents with unwanted hair can be treated. It is recommended that you come in for a free, no-obligation consultation with one of our professional therapists so that your treatment can be discussed, and a free-of-charge test patch can be done on you to demonstrate the treatment.
Who can be treated?

Men and women can both be treated, as well as teenagers who are physically mature and past puberty. It is recommended that a consultation is carried out on younger people, as well as women who are planning a pregnancy in the near future, as hormonal changes can cause hair to re-grow.
